In 2005 Clive Maguire and Jon Holloway went to the Gothia Cup in Sweden with Marlborough College. This competition is regarded as the largest youth tournament in the World with some 64 different countries in attendance. The African Nations are well represented and in 2005 a team from Lusaka in Zambia won the boys Under 19's section.

Clive and Jon were intrigued to discover that it takes several years of fund raising and hard work, for these teams to be able to compete in this very prestigous competition.
Both community managers have attended the tournament on a number of occasions since 2005, and they have since linked up with Alive and Kicking and African Impact, two charitable organisations who support Youth Community Football in many regions of the African Continent.
Maguire and Holloway made their first visit in December 2008 where they linked up with Samuel Matetee, Olympic Silver medal winner in 1996. During this initial visit they purchased footballs from the football factory in Lusaka before going up to Kitwe to coach the children in the Copper Belt region of the country.

In December 2009 4 of the Community Trust Team embarked on an 8 day trip to Livingstone in Zambia, where they coached 600 children and also hosted the 1st ever Youth Tournament to be staged in the Livingstone Region.
The Trust, over 12 months prior to the trip, ran a football kit and boot appeal which enabled them to donate all the charitable donations during their stay. On the day of the tournament all 16 teams participating received boots and a full playing kit for their squads.
The Trust have signed a contractual agreement with the Zambian FA and the Coaches Association of Livingstone to forge an ongoing Community Coaching Project, which it is hoped will develop into a Football Academy, to be known as Swindon Livingstone.
