Twilight Football is a scheme that has been set up to engage young people (13-17 years) in a diversionary activity which may prevent anti-social behaviour, or the threat of becoming involved in anti-social activities.

The scheme which is Football Foundation funded, was set up by many partners including Swindon Borough Council, Wiltshire FA and the Wiltshire Police and is delivered by Football in the Community.

The scheme gives young people the opportunity to participate in late night football activities, consequently removing more young people from the local streets. Participants are referred to the scheme from local agenices, schools, Wiltshire Police and Social Services.

 Not only does Twilight offer playing opportunities it also encourages young referrals to become involved in coaching certificates, refereeing courses, young leadership awards and college courses which will all help with the young people's personal development. Since the project started in 2006 many young people have gained Level 1 Coaching Certificates and run festivals of football fun for local schools.

Twilight Football also encourages participation in local leagues and competitions with their very own Twilight Football League to commence in March 2010. Twilight Football has 7 key objectives and these are listed below:

Objective 1- To develop playing opportunities for young people.

Objective 2- To develop positive beahviour through team work and fair play.

Objective 3- To encourage ownership through young people assisting with the implementation and co-ordination of the project.

Objective 4- To offer young people new skills through team management, refereeing coaching and management of the project.

Objective 5- To provide support and encouragement to those involved, through mentoring, building on exsiting skills, interests and voluntary placements with partner agencies.

Objective 6- To encourage positive relationships between key agencies and the young people.

Objective 7- To remove young people from the streets.
