Community Cup

Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust are involved in two schools national competitions annually. Before the Christmas break we run a Swindon based 6 a side tournament for Primary Schools and an Under 13's girls competition with the local final being held here at the County Ground on the main pitch. The local winners then go on to represent S.T.F.C. in the Southern Area Finals, with the chance of reaching the "Grand Final" which is played at the new national stadium, "Wembley."

Grange Junior School representing Swindon Town Football in the Community recently continued Swindon Town Football Club’s unbeaten run at Wembley in May 2009.

Grange Juniors played on the hallowed turf before the League 1 Play off Final between Millwall and Scunthorpe. The boys played out a 0-0 draw against St Winefride’s Catholic Primary School who were representing Tranmere Rovers Football Club.

Both teams were participating in the National Final of the Football League Community Cup. Grange had previously seen off teams from the South West of England and their regional schools to reach the national final.

The day was a feast of football with Grange predominantly controlling proceedings on a sun drenched Wembley but failed to hit the target on numerous occasions. At the end of the game the score remained 0-0 with both school sharing this prestigious trophy.

Jon Holloway, Football and Community Development Manager stated, “It was a memorable weekend with the boys representing us in magnificent fashion. They were a credit to themselves, their teachers and their parents with their behaviour being impeccable throughout the weekend. We would like to thank Andy Drury and John Spencer the two teachers and managers of the team who did a fantastic job getting their impressive side to the final.”

National Schools Competition

In 2007 Swindon Town Football in The Community achieved first national success when Dorcan Technology College Under 13 girls lifted the national trophy at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff defeating huddersfield Town 2-0.
